Boulder Elopement Photographer with Lauren & Ben at the Flagstaff House and Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, Colorado
It was a pleasure to be the Boulder elopement photographer for Lauren and Ben this past June. Like a lot of couples this year, they changed their wedding plans multiple times. They were initially going to have a larger celebration that turned into an intimate elopement with a small group of friends and family at the Flagstaff House in Boulder. Although a lot changed from what they first thought their wedding day was going to look like, it was a beautiful and fun celebration!
Getting Ready and Fun Details
Lauren and Ben were a pleasure to work with. They had a super positive attitude throughout all their wedding changes. We kept in contact and stayed as flexible as we could. When the day finally came they got ready at an air bnb in Boulder. When I arrived I captured some candids of them getting ready and photos of the details that went into their elopement. Purple was an underlying color of the day, with beautiful purple bouquets, dresses and ties. They even made purple sunglasses with their names and date that were super cute.
Being a Boulder Elopement Photographer at Lost Gulch Overlook
Being a Boulder elopement photographer, you have to be ready for weather. Especially in the afternoon during the summer in Colorado. We went to Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff mountain for Lauren and Ben’s first look and some portraits. Everything started out nicely and a little overcast. Then suddenly the weather changed drastically and we found ourselves in the middle of an intense thunderstorm with rain and hail. So we jumped in our cars to check the radar and see if we could wait it out. We were super fortunate and 20 minutes later the sun came out and the storm had passed us by. We were able to take some portraits on the rocks of Lost Gulch Overlook and we also had the place to ourselves because the weather scared away some other people who were there earlier.
Elopement at the Flagstaff House in Boulder
Lauren and Ben said their vows on the back deck of the Flagstaff House. Behind them was a backdrop with views of the Foothills and the city of Boulder. It was a great place to elope! Their friends and family stood around them as witnesses. They incorporated their parents into the ceremony by having their dads both officiate and each of their moms did a reading as well. We even walked across the street for a few dancing photos in a nearby park and then they had an intimate dinner at the restaurant.
Thanks Lauren & Ben!
Lauren & Ben, thanks so much for inviting me to be part of this day and capture photos of this special moment in your lives. You two took on multiple challenges with grace and a great attitude. I wish you two much happiness and adventures together as you start this new chapter in your lives as husband and wife. Much love to you two, congrats!!
