McKenzie and Hunter traveled from Arkansas to Colorado to celebrate their Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding, surrounded by snow-covered mountains and the sound of a flowing creek near Idaho Springs. With an intimate guest count and a winter mountain atmosphere, their day was meaningful, relaxed, and deeply personal.

A Mountain Creekside Wedding in Colorado
When McKenzie and Hunter began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to get married in the mountains near a creek. As a passionate fisherman, Hunter felt a special connection to being near the water, making Blackstone Rivers Ranch the perfect choice.
Located in Idaho Springs, this Colorado mountain venue offers creek-side ceremony locations, rustic scenery, and a peaceful, natural setting—ideal for couples wanting an intimate wedding experience.

An Intimate Celebration with Family and Friends
McKenzie and Hunter hosted a small wedding with about 50 guests and one person on each side of the wedding party. With a more intimate guest count, they chose photography coverage that focused on the moments that mattered most: getting ready at the venue, the ceremony, and portraits afterward.
They had their hair done in Denver before arriving at Blackstone Rivers Ranch for the final touches. After the ceremony and portraits, they celebrated with a casual reception in Denver at Happy Camper Pizza, choosing to keep that part of the day unplugged and relaxed without professional photography.
A Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding with Winter Vibes
McKenzie and Hunter met while working as pediatric nurses, traveling to the same hospital through mutual friends—and the rest is history. They were hoping for true winter vibes for their Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding, and Colorado delivered. Snow covered the venue and the surrounding trees, while the creek continued to flow along the ceremony path, creating a beautiful contrast of winter textures and water.
For shoes, McKenzie had wedding style fuzzy Birkenstocks as well as warmer boots (which we switched part way through portraits after the ceremony as the sun started to go down). The twinkly lights hanging around the venue also was a nice touch in the background for photos, they especially popped against the white snow.
Thanks McKenzie and Hunter
