Colorado Mountain Elopement

Colorado Mountain Elopement with Annie and Mike around Breckenridge

mountain elopement Colorado

Annie and Mike wanted to do a Colorado mountain elopement with a small group of their family and friends. They choose the area around Breckenridge for their location. Then they rented a couple air bnbs where they could stay to enjoy the weekend. Their thought was to have the ceremony around Blue Lakes, and then celebrate back at the air bnb with everyone. In total they had about 15 people join them.

About Annie and Mike

Annie and Mike traveled to Colorado from Minnesota for their wedding. They met online and share a love for trying new restaurants, hanging out with their dogs, watching fun movies and margaritas. Their dad officiated the elopement with some funny stories about the beginning of Annie and Mike’s relationship. The day ended up being a little different than what they originally thought, but it turned out wonderfully!

Having a Back up Plan for your Mountain Elopement in Colorado

Annie and Mike’s original plan of doing the ceremony at Blue Lakes fell through when we found out that the road was closed due to construction. It would have turned the ceremony into a much longer hike and some of their parents who were attending were not able to do that. Luckily I got there early and when I found out what was happening, I called up Mike and Annie and we discussed some other options. We decided on a different alpine lake about a 30 minute drive from their air bnb with a short hike.

If you’re planning a Colorado mountain elopement its important to have some backup options. When you do an elopement in the mountains, depending on where you go, typically there aren’t reservations. So if there is unanticipated construction, or crazy weather, or something else that would impede getting to the planned location, you can always go with plan b. Thinking through that before the day of the elopement will help things go smoother.
