Colorado Proposal Photographer with Bill and Maddie at Maroon Bells

It was such a pleasure to be the Colorado proposal photographer for Bill and Maddie who traveled out here from Chicago. Bill wanted to make this a special trip for his girlfriend Maddie. They stayed around Aspen and his plan was to pop the question at Maroon Bells. Maroon Bells is a scenic trail in Colorado with a small lake and a short easy path that wanders through some gorgeous scenery.

Popping the Question at Maroon Bells in Colorado

Maroon Bells is a beautiful place to pop the question, but it does take a little bit of planning. The area sees a ton of foot traffic from visitors from around the world. So the White River National Forest has set up some rules in the last few years to help protect the landscape from not getting damaged. And last year with the pandemic things got a little more restricted as well. But as long as you know the rules, everything runs smoothly. Currently you need a reservation to drive in and park at the trailhead parking lot. Drivers can visit before 8am or after 5pm. During the hours between 8am – 5pm you need to use the public shuttle which runs often throughout the day. Reservations are currently required for the shuttle as well.

As a Colorado proposal photographer, its not just about capturing the moment. It also takes planning to make sure things run smoothly. And about creating something that fits with the vision my clients have. Bill wanted to be able to do the proposal at Maroon Bells after they flew in from Chicago. He also wanted to have some champagne at the trail to celebrate and then do dinner afterwards. We worked together to set up a time when the lighting would be flattering, that would also give Maddie enough time to change from plane ride and allow them enough time for dinner. It worked out great! I was in place at our meeting spot to capture the proposal, we did a portrait session afterwards, and then they went off to celebrate during a nice dinner. Bill, thanks for entrusting me to capture this important moment in your lives. Maddie, it was so nice to meet you and I’m so excited for the two of you. It was a pleasure to hang out for the afternoon and get to know the two of you while we took photos around the trail. I hope you two had a wonderful trip and can make it back out to Colorado again.
