Breckenridge Engagement with Molly & Jerry at Sapphire Point During the Winter
This Breckenridge engagement with Molly & Jerry was a snow filled winter wonderland. They reached out to me about doing portraits around the Breckenridge area while out here on a trip from the East Coast. Molly told me she was hoping they would have scenery with mountains and possibly snow. I told her the chances of snow in February were high. And that’s exactly what we got.
Sapphire Point
We decided to meet up at Sapphire Point for this Breckenridge engagement session. Its a popular area just outside of the town of Breckenridge, about a 15 minute drive. The trail is short and flat with a beautiful lookout over Lake Dillon. Because of the snow, we traveled the loop trail with little crowds which was really nice. It was Molly’s first time to Colorado and she was excited for some winter activities they had planned like a snow mobile tour in Steamboat. They were both great sports with the snowy cold weather and embraced it well.
Preparing for a Breckenridge Engagement During the Winter
Breckenridge is at about 9600′ in elevation above sea level. Which means that when it gets cold it can be really cold and sometimes windy. Molly brought an adorable snow beanie to wear in the photos. Having something like this can really help in two areas: keeping your head and ears warm, and also preventing hair from blowing around too much. That being said, Colorado is also unpredictable. There are lots of sunny days in the winter here too. Just plan on being prepared for cold weather if you’re going to do a winter engagement session in the mountains. You’ll be much happier if you’re comfortable. Here are a few other good things you might want to bring with you during a winter engagement session: an extra pair of shoes and socks, gloves, hand warmers, and possibly a scarf.
Thanks Molly & Jerry
Molly & Jerry, it was a pleasure to meet you two and capture engagement photos while you were in Colorado. I hope you had a wonderful trip and are doing well. Sending love and well wishes!
