Couples Portraits at St Mary’s Glacier with Sherri and Mike
I met up with Sherri & Mike for couples portraits at St Mary’s Glacier this past September. They were in the process of planning a vow renewal for their anniversary and we booked a photography package to capture their day. With wedding packages I usually include an engagement session. Although they were already married they were still interested in getting together for couple portraits. Sherri told me they didn’t have many photos of the two of them, so doing an additional portrait session before the vow renewal would be a great fit.
St Mary’s Glacier
The hike up to St Mary’s Glacier is short, about a mile. But its pretty steep and rocky. Mike isn’t a big hiker but was a good sport to do this for Sherri. Sherri was looking for some mountain scenery for this couples portrait session, especially since they were in the process of also moving to Texas. Their surroundings were about to change in a big way and so Sherri wanted to capture some mountain scenery while they still could. St Mary’s Glacier is a great spot for photos if people are up for the hike. Usually the hike takes about 20 minutes. It can see a lot of foot traffic but once up at the lake and glacier there are a few different areas where its possible to find a quiet spot.
Couples Portraits Can Be Fun
For all my couples portraits and engagement sessions, I aim to keep it light and fun. With Sherri and Mike we stopped in a few places on the way up to the lake to capture photos. I gave them some prompts to talk about while we were doing portraits which allowed them to be playful with each other. We also did some images of them walking down the trail. They told me about their plans to move to Texas and more details about the plans for their vow renewal.
Thanks Sherri and Mike
Sherri & Mike, thank you for adventuring with me around St Mary’s Glacier for your couple portraits. I’m glad that I could play a part in celebrating your anniversary and hope you are doing well in Texas. I can’t wait to share more photos later on of your vow renewal from Steamboat Springs. Sending love and well wishes to you and your family!
We had a great time and the photos came out wonderful! Thanks so much Nichole for giving us some wonderful photos to cherish!
All the best to you!
Mike and Sherri
