Engagement Locations Colorado – Twin Lakes with Jordan and Colby
When we were looking for engagement locations in Colorado for Jordan and Colby’s portrait session we decided on Twin Lakes. Initially I was going to meet Jordan and Colby around Aspen. But the week that we scheduled their engagement photos there were really bad fires in the area. Roads were closed in multiple places and so we decided to travel to Twin Lakes instead which was just before the road closure by Independence Pass.
Jordan and Colby’s Story
Technically Jordan and Colby are already married. They did a short ceremony with a small group of family members. Then they reached out to me as they were planning a reception to gather with a larger group of friends and family celebrating their new marriage. I include a complimentary engagement session in all my wedding photography packages. And although Jordan and Colby were already married, we decided to do a portrait session still before the wedding reception.
Jordan and Colby spend a lot of time in the mountains so Twin Lakes was a great place for our portraits. They told me that they love to run, bike, play music and bake. They are both musicians. Jordan plays the french horn and Colby plays the tuba. And they were planning on baking cupcakes for their reception.
Change in Plans
But then 2020 happened and all their plans changed. Since they already had a ceremony and were really looking to gather with a larger group to celebrate, they decided to push back the date on their reception. I’m glad we were still able to meet up for a portrait session in the mountains. Looking into 2021 they are mostly playing their new date by ear as things continue to change around the pandemic.
Engagement Locations Colorado – Twin Lakes
Twin Lakes was an excellent location for engagement photos in Colorado. During our time there we stopped at 3 different spots. We took some time along the shore of the lake which had a really beautiful beach with a mountain backdrop. Then we stopped quickly at a spot along the road overlooking the lake from a wider perspective. And lastly we went up to the trailhead for Mt Elbert which was filled with aspens. They were all starting to change into a pale green which was really pretty. As a result of the fires the skies were very hazy because of the smoke in the area. But even with the fires, the portraits still turned out really nicely.
Thanks Jordan and Colby
Jordan and Colby, thanks for adventuring with me around Twin Lakes. It was a great place to do portraits. I hope you two are doing well. I’m looking forward to the vaccines starting and wedding receptions becoming safer. I’m excited to meet up with you all for the reception whenever that ends of being. Happy New Year and see you soon!
