There are a lot of beautiful elopement destinations in Colorado, but these are some of our favorites! Why? First, they’re easy to get to when traveling in from out of state. All these locations are within 2.5 hours of the Denver International Airport. Second, they all offer gorgeous mountain views in one form or another making them all iconic beautiful places to visit in Colorado. And third, fun activities of all kinds are nearby to these locations. You could enjoy things like hiking, skiing, climbing, camping, biking, fishing and white water rafting, making for a super fun wedding adventure!
We go into more detail on our site about eloping details. This is a shorter rundown of some beautiful elopement destinations in Colorado. Below are our top 9 in no particular order. Have fun planning your Colorado elopement adventure!
1. Sapphire Point in Breckenridge
This spot is run by White River National Forest Service. Its a short hike to an overlook of Dillon Lake. Space can be rented here in 2 hour blocks. Nearby activities during the winter would be skiing at any of the nearby resorts. Or during the summer enjoy hiking along Colorado’s many mountain trails.
2. Point Park in Grand Lake
Point Park is a small park along the shores of Grand Lake. Its run by the United States Forest Service. The lake is surrounded by gorgeous mountains. There are some amazing hiking and backpacking trails nearby. And its also a great place to see wildlife! I’ve seen moose here on multiple occasions.
3. Sunrise Amphitheater in Boulder
Have your wedding in a circular stone amphitheater in the forest while looking out over the city of Boulder. All within a couples miles are photo opp places with views of the flatirons and mountains to the west. This unique amphitheater is run by City of Boulder. Nearby activities could include biking, hiking, and climbing. Or you could spend time walking through downtown Boulder’s restaurants and shops.
4. 3m Curve in Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park has a special place in my heart. 3m Curve offers some stunning views, beautiful trees and rock outcroppings. Its also a short trail and easy to access both in the summer and the winter.
5. Keystone Resort in Keystone
Have your wedding at the top of the ski resort during the summer! Keystone Resort has the option to rent out the top of their mountain for ceremonies only. They offer a unique view of Lake Dillon and the surrounding area. During the winter you could spend your time skiing. Or during the summer enjoy some time on the lake boating or kayaking.
6. Chautauqua Park in Boulder
Chautauqua Park sits right beneath the Flatirons. They are impressive rock formations that jut out of the landscape in Boulder. The park is a national historic landmark that’s been around for over 100 years.
7. Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park
Black Canyon Inn has an outdoor ceremony location that’s covered by a beautiful wood and stone shelter. The ceremony location looks out over the continental divide and Lumpy Ridge. Finding a place to stay is also convenient here since the venue offers condo lodging.
8. Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park
This is another one of the really beautiful elopement destinations in Colorado in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sprague Lake is surrounded by some stunning mountains which reflect in the water below. There’s a small dock here as well. World class hiking and camping can be done around the park. You could even run up Longs Peak, one of Colorado’s more popular 14ers, which sits at 14,259′ in elevation.
9. Brainard Lake in Nederland
Brainard Lake is about an hour from Boulder, CO. Its a beautiful large alpine lake surround by the Indian Peaks Wilderness. There are a couple lakes around this area too if you want to do a hike or have more variety to your photos.
