William and I planned this Surprise Proposal Photography session with him and his new fiance, Bethany in front of Maroon Bells in Aspen, Colorado. He was a little nervous that day leading up to the time we planned to meet. Because of that he had texted me a bunch to make sure everything was in order. I thought Bethany might be onto something because of that. Honestly I was a little nervous too. My dad once told me that when you’re nervous, really its just excitement about something important. I was excited for the two of them and to help capture the moment of it happening.

Getting Ready to Capture the Surprise Proposal

I saw William and Bethany walking up the trail where I was ready with my camera. They stopped to look at the view and he gave her a hug, which was my cue to get ready. As he dropped to one knee I snapped away photos of this surprise proposal with an amazing backdrop of the Colorado Maroon Bells in the background. Of course she said yes! I stayed back for a few moments and took photos of the two of them as they hugged with joy.

Then I introduced myself and we walked around the trail to do some romantic portraits of the two of them. I asked her if she knew. She told me that she had a feeling he was going to ask her when he asked her to wear something nice during their walk around Maroon Bells. When they walked up I tried to blend in sitting on bench talking with a family, but she knew what was coming. It was still fun and exciting!
