Our Top 10 Favorite Venues and Ceremony Sites

If you’re looking for wedding venues in Boulder, Colorado, this blog post is for you! As a Colorado wedding photographer, I’ve photographed weddings all over the state and Boulder has a special place in my heart. It’s where I lived when I first moved to Colorado. It has a wonderful outdoorsy, down to earth vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else. Think trail runners grabbing coffee before a mountain hike, farmers markets, and views of the Flatirons from pretty much anywhere in town. It’s a place that feels adventurous and relaxed at the same time, which makes it an amazing backdrop for a wedding.
Why Get Married in Boulder, Colorado?
There’s a lot to love here. Boulder is close to Denver International Airport, so it’s an easy landing spot if you’ve got guests flying in from out of state. There’s no shortage of lodging either because it’s a pretty big city with plenty of hotels nearby. And the scenery? You can pick your vibe: dramatic mountain views, open meadows, or a farm/garden feel, all within a short drive of each other. Boulder also has some gorgeous outdoor venues tucked into the city’s open space, which is a fun option if you love the idea of getting married somewhere truly wild.
One thing that’s worth knowing is that Boulderites love their trails. So a few of the most iconic spots, like Chautauqua, can get busy with hikers on nice days. It doesn’t mean you can’t have amazing portraits there. It just means a little planning goes a long way to work around the crowds.
With that being said, let’s jump into our top 10 favorite wedding venues in Boulder Colorado. Why I love them, plus a few bonus spots for portraits and elopements.

Although there are no mountain views from the amphitheater itself, you don’t have to go far to find them. Bonus: Portrait & Elopement Spots Near Boulder
Not every beautiful spot needs to host your ceremony to be part of your day. A few of my favorite nearby locations for portraits (and one gorgeous elopement site):

Brainard Lake (about 30 minutes from Boulder)
This is a stunning elopement site right on the shores of Brainard Lake. This is a ceremony only site, not a reception venue. If you’re dreaming of an alpine lake elopement, this is the spot. This location can be great for a small elopement gathering or just for additional portraits.
No reservations are required here, but you must also share the space with other people who are enjoying the outdoors.
Chautauqua Trail
Beyond the ceremony sites, the trail near the Flatirons makes for incredible portraits with iconic rock formations as your backdrop. Note though that this spot can get really busy with hikers and tourists. Having some added time here to work around others is helpful and/or going during non-peak hours.

Lost Gulch Overlook
This is one of my favorite portrait locations for sweeping mountain views and dramatic rock formations near Boulder. It can get busy too. A lot of people like to come watch the sunset here or climb out on the rocks for photos because it’s really easy to get to and beautiful. It’s totally worth sharing this space with others for the views which feel like you’re on top of the world.
Finding Your Boulder Wedding Venue
However you’re picturing your day, Boulder has a spot for it. It could be an intimate amphitheater ceremony, a farm celebration with mountain views, or a quiet elopement by an alpine lake. If you’re still narrowing things down, I’d love to help you think through timing, light, and logistics for whichever venue you land on.
