Maroon Bells Proposal Story with Jackson & Claire

Jackson planned this Maroon Bells proposal during their trip to Colorado and chose the iconic peak for their big moment. Nature is a huge part of their relationship—they take at least one trip a year to either the beach or the mountains—so proposing at one of the most photographed mountain peaks in Colorado felt perfectly fitting. During part of their stay in the Aspen area, Jackson decided it was the right time to pop the question.

We took the morning shuttle up to the trailhead. Since it was mid-October, the foliage had thinned out a bit, but there were still pockets of bright orange leaves. Fresh snow had coated the Maroon Bells peaks earlier that week, creating a stunning contrast between golden aspens and white, snow-dusted mountains. Even with cloud cover, the views were incredible.

Jackson chose a quiet spot along the lake shore with the Maroon Bells peaks perfectly framed in the background. Because we caught the first shuttle of the day, there were far fewer people on the trail—rare for fall at Maroon Bells. I sat on a nearby bench pretending to snack and study a trail map while they walked up. After a few groups passed by, the moment opened up, and Jackson dropped to one knee.

We went early in the morning when it was less crowded

Mid October was a beautiful combination of lingering fall colors and the snowy maroon Bells mountain peak

After the proposal, we explored the area for portraits, taking advantage of the soft morning light, lingering fall colors, and snowy peaks. It all came together so beautifully.
