Ed & Savannah’s Juniper Pass Proposal Story

Ed proposed to Savannah on top of the rocky cliffs at Juniper Pass. Traveling from Florida, the two had planned a getaway centered around a concert at Red Rocks. After three years together, Ed knew on this trip he wanted to propose. He envisioned popping the question in a place that felt peaceful, scenic, and private. Juniper Pass checked all those boxes, plus it was a short walk and close to Denver. We even planned a surprise video capture of the proposal as well!

Savannah's reaction of excitement during their proposal at Juniper Pass

Since it was their first time visiting Colorado, Ed wanted Savannah to experience some iconic spots of Colorado and also see the mountains. They planned for a concert at Red Rocks the day before we met. Then his plan for the day of the proposal was to go to church that morning and do a brunch afterwards. When they left church, he told her they were heading to brunch, with a quick stop along the way for a scenic overlook.

It felt like just another part of their day together. Meanwhile, Ed and I had carefully chosen a quiet mountain location, Juniper Pass, with sweeping views and a short walk—perfect for being able to dress up. Savannah had no idea what was waiting for her.

Capturing the Proposal on Video

One of the most important details to Ed was making sure the proposal was captured—not just in photos, but on video as well. When they arrived, I was hanging out near our meeting spot, pretending to be just someone else enjoying the view. As they took in the scenery, they asked if I could take a photo for them.

I set up Ed’s phone on a small stand with a selfie stick attached to it, framed them in the shot—and then hit record. That was Ed’s cue to drop to one knee.

With the mountains stretching out behind them, Ed got down on one knee and asked Savannah to marry him. While the video was recording on his phone, I captured photos of the moment. Savannah’s reaction of surprise and excitement was so sweet and beautiful.

Celebrating the Moment

After the proposal, we walked around on the rocks capturing some portraits at the top of the pass. The mountain views were incredible, but the wind started to pick up and we all were getting a bit cold. So we decided to head to a couple spots nearby that were a little lower in elevation, hoping we could get away from the wind.

This gave their gallery so much variety and they also got to explore more fun places too. From mountain views to quiet forested paths and a champagne toast in a peaceful meadow, it all came together for an unforgettable morning.

What made this proposal so special wasn’t just the scenery—it was the intention behind every part of it. From choosing a location that fit their vision to finding a creative way to capture the moment on video, Ed planned a proposal that flowed with their day and really took Savannah by surprise.
